Sitefinity provides a variety of built-in options for form settings, including text boxes, paragraph fields, multiple-choice questions, and dropdown menus. You can customize form settings, set up notifications, confirmation emails, and manage form responses. Form settings can be changed, including restrictions, actions after submission, notifications, and sending form data to external applications. To create and configure forms, go to the forms page and choose the appropriate form. To access form settings, within the form editor click the Settings button in the upper right corner. The form settings will overlay the form content widgets.
Restrictions
The default setting is “No restrictions: Everyone can submit unlimited number of entries” and we recommend leaving this setting. It will allow someone to fill out a form more than once with no limitations.
If you want to mitigate spam form submissions, we recommend using the Google reCAPTCHA widget on your form.
Confirmation options
In this radio button group, you choose what happens after a user submits the form. Select one of the following:
Show message for success – when the form is submitted, the message that is entered in the text box will be displayed on the form Web page.
Note when editing the settings for a new form, the text in the text box is default text, and it is highly encouraged to customize this text for the purpose of the form.
Redirect to a page… – when the form is submitted, the page entered in the text box will be displayed. You will need to enter the absolute URL in this field, and ideally this page is created before you specify it in this option.
Confirmation Email
If you want to send an email to the respondent of the form, select Send email to form respondent.
If you want to customize the email template, click Customize email. For more information, see Manage templates for system emails.
NOTE: To be able to send an email to the respondent, the form must contain an email field where the respondents can fill out their emails.
Notification Email
You can specify yourself and/or others to receive an email notification that the form has been submitted, which will include the form responses.
When you check the box, the email address tied to your Sitefinity user profile will appear in the box. You can enter additional email addresses in the box and enter only one (1) email address per line.
Label placement
The default setting is “Top aligned” and we recommend leaving this setting for where to display the label of form elements, such as textboxes, checkboxes, and multiple choices. You can choose from Top aligned, Left aligned or Right aligned.
