We are introducing Consent Banners on all websites within the ADA's Branded Web Templates (BWT) platform. Consent banners are the notifications that appear on a website to inform visitors about the use of cookies and tracking technologies, allowing them to manage their privacy preferences. Here is a preview of what to expect.
Consent banners have become a standard requirement across the web to support privacy transparency, comply with evolving state, national, and international data protection requirements, and meet the policies of key technology providers. They help ensure visitors understand how information is collected and used while providing them with greater control over their browsing experience.
For BWT sites, consent banners are required to support Google Analytics tracking and the display of banner advertisements, whether your site uses the ADA's managed "house ads" or its own Google Ad Manager account. Without a consent banner in place, analytics reporting—including the recently released Dashboard reports—will be unavailable, and banner advertisements may not be displayed.
Example Consent Banner
The banner will appear at the bottom of the browser window, overlaying page content while remaining unobtrusive to site navigation. Visitors will still be able to browse pages and scroll through content; however, the banner will remain visible until the Accept button is selected. The banner text will be consistent across all BWT sites, while the color of the Accept button and top border will automatically align with your site's color palette.
No Action Required
No action is required on your part. Once the update is deployed, the consent banner will automatically appear across all pages of your website until a visitor accepts it. Please note that you may need to refresh your browser or reopen a webpage before the changes become visible.
